School Administration

My name is Dr. David Belton, and I am honored to be the new Principal of Charles City Elementary School.

I received my Associate’s in Science degree from Richard Bland College, my Bachelor’s of Science degree from Virginia Commonwealth University, my Master’s degree from Radford University, and my Administration endorsement from Longwood University. Lastly, I received my Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from Virginia Tech. Needless to say, I have a love for learning. I have been in education for over 10 years and have held numerous  positions, including Resource Teacher, School Counselor, 21st Century Program Coordinator, Administrative Aide, PBIS Coach, and most recently, Assistant Principal. 

I am a New York native with strong Virginia roots. On a Saturday morning, you may spot me at a farmers’ market with my dog or volunteering in the community. My favorite quote is, “The future belongs to those who believe in the  beauty of their dreams.”

  I am a passionate educator who believes that ALL students can succeed by developing a safe, engaging learning environment. It takes a village to raise a child, and I thank you for allowing me to be a part of the Charles City County village. Please know that my door is always open, and I encourage you to contact me to share your ideas, thoughts, or concerns. We are in this together to support our students in every aspect of their development.

Greetings Parents and Students,

It is with great honor and excitement that I briefly introduce myself as the Assistant Principal of Charles City Elementary School. It is truly a privilege to have been selected to help lead such an amazing and wonderful school that is founded on rich academic principles and moral values. I am eager to work with you as a partner in education to ensure your child’s success.

I received my undergraduate degree from Virginia State University and following earned an M.Ed. in Elementary Education. After serving many wonderful years in the classroom it led me to earn my M.Ed. in Administration and Supervision at Liberty University. The decision to become an administrator came from a desire to make a positive impact on an entire school, not just within a classroom. 

With my desire, I am looking forward to helping students transition into what will be the first years of their academic lives. After teaching in elementary education for many years in Richmond, Henrico County and Chesterfield County Public Schools, I have learned and witnessed that the years spent in elementary school are an important and critical time for students. What happens during these years will create a huge impact and lasting impression on their growth and development.

So, thank you, parents, and guardians, for entrusting me with such a special task. I believe with trust, a growth mindset, great character, and collaboration we can achieve great things.  My goal is to instill those qualities in our students and to be positive role models as well. I will take great pride in providing a safe and nurturing environment that emphasizes student academic growth and development that is fostered by diversity, equity, and inclusion and lead with a student-centered creative instructional approach that will lead the students to become lifelong learners,

It has been a great passion and dream of mine to become a leader of a school that focuses on building strong and positive relationships with parents, students, and community partners. By creating a positive community relationship here at Charles City Elementary School, I, along with the principal, teachers, and staff, hope to establish the importance of working together to ensure that students remain academically motivated to achieve academic growth and success.
